2018 – An exciting beginning
Exactly one year ago today, April 9, 2018, we started Sanos Clinic. Our ambition was and is to build a clinic dedicated to research and build a trustworthy relationship with our participants and meet the expectations of our partners. We started our work with high hopes for success, and those ambitions are well on their way. During our first year, Sanos has initiated five different scientific studies.
Scientific projects
We began by conducting a clinical study in which menopausal women were offered a dietary supplement with an expected positive effect on the genes most commonly seen in women in this age group. This project involved 50 women and lasted until December 2018. The final results are on the way, and the preliminary data looks promising.
Following this successful study, we have three other ongoing scientific projects:
- Osteoarthritis – This trial tests the well-known painkiller diclofenac in a new gel form for local application in people with osteoarthritis of the knee. The purpose is to assess whether the treatment has a greater pain-relieving effect than standard local treatment.
- Asthma – The research project includes people who, due to severe asthma, receive daily treatment with prednisolone in tablet form. Only people with so-called eosinophilic asthma can participate. The purpose is to assess whether treatment with a new medication that affects Interleukin-5 can reduce the use of prednisolone.
- Ulcerative colitis – The research project includes people with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. The purpose is to assess the extent to which treatment with medication that inhibits interleukin-36 has a beneficial effect on the disease.
In April 2019, a scientific project will be launched in which people with chronic hand eczema can participate.

Staff
During our first year, we have welcomed several new staff members. We currently have 14 qualified nurses, doctors and research assistants, as well as our radiographer. All of them work with the aim of ensuring that the clinical studies are conducted comfortably, safely and in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.
You can learn more about the experiences and qualifications of some of our colleagues on our Facebook page:

2019 – We celebrate one year of activity
In 2019, we will continue to do our best to provide our participants with the best clinical services, so that together we can achieve relevant results in our high-quality research and help develop new, life-improving medicines and dietary supplements. We will remain true to our core values:
- Patient focus – The patient’s well-being always comes first, and we prioritize offering the best care and attention.
- Safety – Safety is top notch. Through knowledge, training and skills, we achieve a high level of safety for our patients in clinical trials and at the same time ensure the necessary results for drug development.
- Quality – The combination of our high level of customer service with advanced facilities and equipment allows us to deliver the best, most reliable services and results to both participants and partners, while we continuously focus on becoming even better.
- Integrity – We set high ethical standards for everything we do, and we follow strong moral principles that encompass all regulations and recommendations for clinical trials.
- Professionalism – Our experienced and well-trained medical team offers dedication and the best experiences to our patients, so that reliable and trustworthy relationships can be built.
What the future holds
In the near future, Sanos will expand its activities and offer participation in clinical phase I studies. Phase I represents the early part of drug development, where participants will be able to stay overnight comfortably while being monitored by our qualified healthcare professionals. For this purpose, we will establish a new clinical department with a bed section in our building at Herlev Hovedgade 82. Our clinic will of course continue to offer clinical studies in the later phases as currently. In connection with the establishment of the new clinical department, we will take the opportunity to renovate the exterior of the property and beautify the surrounding areas.
In order to provide better and more advanced treatments to our participants, we have just completed the installation of a modern MRI scanner to be used for our clinical research projects. The MRI scanner allows us to offer something truly exceptional to our participants and enables us to conduct world-class research. We believe this will be beneficial for the development of new treatment options for patients in areas such as osteoarthritis and cardiovascular diseases. We look forward to offering participation in studies with MRI scans from autumn 2019.
During our first year, we have had almost 400 patient visits, and we expect to increase this number significantly before the end of the year as we start new clinical studies in several disease areas.
